Details

As the name “Almweg 2000” suggests, this route leads from alpine pasture to alpine pasture at an average of 2000 meters above sea level. Starting at the Ampfertaler Höfe in St. Magdalena we take forest path no. 10 and hike up to the Ascht Alm and on towards to the Pfinn Alm. Just before reaching a small watering hole, we turn left and hike along the beautiful Gsieser Alpine trail 2000 to reach today's destination: the Hörneggele.

The Hörneggele: at 2.127m, today's summit is not so high, but it does offer breath-taking views over the Gsieser Valley and the surrounding mountains, making everyday life seem a distant memory.

After a short rest at the summit, we return to the Hotel Quelle, where a delicious lunch awaits us.

Walking time: approx. 4.5 hours

approx. 850 metres altitude difference

Difficulty: moderate to difficult hike

SURE-FOOTEDNESS REQUIRED!

Do not forget the drinks! More information you receive from Patrick!

Brunico Castle MMM Ripa: Messner Mountain Museum

like a protector, Brunico Castle looks down on the rooftops of the town of Brunico  in the Val Pusteria. Bishop Bruno von Kirchberg commissioned the construction of the complex between 1251 and 1288 to protect his estates in the valley, simultaneously laying the foundation for the future town. As early as the 14th century, the castle was expanded with a perimeter wall.

Brunico Castle (Schloss Bruneck) acquired its present form under Prince-Bishop Christoph von Schroffenstein, who had it converted into a residential castle. The Late Gothic south portal from 1584, once accessible only via a drawbridge, now forms the main entrance.

Reinhold Messner opened the MMM Ripa

here, dedicated to mountain peoples, showcasing the permanent exhibition "The Heritage of the Mountains".

Extra cost: 14,00€ for MMM
