Yin yoga is a calm, passive and meditative style of yoga in which the positions are held for several minutes. The connective tissue is thoroughly stretched and you can find a calm mind. Course of the class:

- Introduction to the breathing technique relevant to Yin Yoga practice and basic information

- With a short meditation, we bring our awareness to our mind and body and prepare ourselves mentally for the practice with a few deep breaths.

- This is followed by the Yin Yoga postures which are mainly performed sitting or lying down and are held for between 3 and 5 minutes. Between the asanas, we will often take a neutral lying position for harmonization.

A typical Yin Yoga class includes forward bends, gentle backbends, hip openers and twisting poses. In yin yoga, the poses are usually performed with little to no muscular effort. Instead, all unneeded muscles should be completely released, creating space for a calm, meditative state.

Physical benefits: Stretching muscles, ligaments, tendons and connective tissue, loosening up fascia, improving flexibility.
