Tour description:
From the Lucknerhaus, follow the well-marked hiking trail into the picturesque Ködnitz Valley. The wide trail climbs gently at first and offers impressive views of the Großglockner and the surrounding peaks of the Glockner Group right from the start.
Along the route, several stations on the “Glocknerspur – BergeDenken” themed trail provide information about the alpine flora and fauna as well as the glacial landscape of the Hohe Tauern. With a little luck, you might spot marmots, chamois, or even ibex.
After about an hour, you’ll reach the Lucknerhütte, located at 2,241 meters. The hut sits right at the foot of the Großglockner and offers a superb view of Austria’s highest mountain. Here, the sun terrace and dining room invite you to take a cozy break.
Tour Description
This hike is one of the most popular family-friendly and leisurely hikes in East Tyrol. The trail is technically easy, well-marked, and runs mostly along wide hiking trails or roads. This makes the tour suitable even for less experienced hikers and families with children. You can drive to the Lucknerhaus in Kals am Großglockner.
A special highlight of this tour is undoubtedly the fantastic view of the Großglockner and the surrounding mountain panorama.
