Description
Starting right from the Hotel Zirmerhof near Merano, we hike along the Riffianer Waalweg and through shady forests up to the mountain hamlet of Gfeis. Via the Merano High Trail, we reach Gasthof Walde and continue on to the highest-altitude farms in Vernuer, the Öbersthöfe. Along the way, we enjoy magnificent views of the Passeier Valley and the surrounding mountains. After a leisurely stop for refreshments, the varied trail takes us past the church in Vernuer and along old mountain farm trails back to Riffian.

Difficulty: moderate to challenging; good physical condition and sure-footedness required
