Guided ranger hike from Ströden to the Umbalkees with breakfast at the Clarahütte
Special tour celebrating the Year of the Isel and the UN Year of Glaciers!
Are you ready for an unforgettable nature experience? You’ll join the rangers on this challenging hike through the Umbal Valley into the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park and hear fascinating stories about the Isel—the last free-flowing glacial river in the Alps.
Early in the morning, you’ll hike along the rushing Isel to its source. Especially in summer, when the glacial river is carrying a lot of water, you’ll experience a natural spectacle here that is second to none.
After the first section of the hike, a hearty breakfast awaits you at the idyllic Clarahütte (2,038 m).
After this refreshment, you’ll hike across the valley floor into the valley until you reach the so-called Keespalfen. From here, the trail gets a little steeper again, and past Sandersee you’ll reach the end of the Isel Trail—the Umbalkees at the foot of the Dreiherrenspitze. The Isel Trail Pyramid marks the end of the Isel Trail and is a popular photo spot for nature lovers.
