Prägraten am Großvenediger, Österreich
Tourist information Prägraten am Großvenediger
Every Wednesday at lunchtime, you set off on a very special winter tour in Prägraten: together with the national park rangers, you hike leisurely along the new Bichl winter hiking trail - through an impressive cultural landscape on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
The start in the small hamlet of Bichl is a highlight in itself: old farmsteads, plenty of sunshine and a view over snow-covered slopes. The trail then continues through tranquil larch meadows, where nature unfolds its very own magic in winter.
On the way, the rangers will tell you exciting facts about animals and plants in the height of winter - and show you how lively it is at the bird feeding site among the tits, finches and squirrels.
As ranger Sophie says: "Winter shows us how much life there is even in the silence." - and that's exactly what you'll feel on this tour. Perfect for anyone who wants to experience East Tyrol's winter consciously and in peace.
