Salzburg Salt Mine

Deep inside the Dürrnberg near Hallein, you can immerse yourself in 2,600 years of salt mining. In white miner's protective clothing, you follow the white gold through four eras, from modern salt mining to the Middle Ages and back to the Celts. A raft trip across the mystical salt lake, a ride on the mine train and two long miners' slides complete the experience. At the end, you will understand why salt is considered the essence of life and cross the only underground national border in Europe.

Meeting point: 15 minutes before the start of the tour at the ticket office (secure tickets online, no queuing at the ticket office)

Tour duration: approx. 90 minutes

Walking distance: around 1 kilometer is covered on foot

Age restriction: Children aged 4 and over may visit the mine.

Animals: Pets are not allowed

Parking: Available free of charge on site

Wheelchair: The tunnels are not wheelchair accessible

Clothing: Warm clothing and sturdy shoes recommended. The temperature underground is around 10°C all year round

Sally's children's tour - Sundays all year round at 2:30 p.m.

Little explorers are big: with Sally, the small, clever miner, children can experience the Salzburg Salt Mine from a fun, child-friendly perspective. The Sally children's tour costs € 25.00 per person. This price includes a small gift for children and a "slide photo".
