Sonneggbrücke Parking Lot in Großarl — Breitenebenalm

The hike starts at the Sonneggbrücke parking lot in Großarl—to warm up, walk a short distance along the road toward Unterwandalm, then take a steep hiking trail up to the first alpine hut (closed). From there, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains. Then it’s a leisurely walk over to the Karseggalm (closed), one of the oldest huts in the Valley of the Alms. The route continues along a forest trail down to the Breitenebenalm (open through November). It’s located at 1,420 m above sea level with a beautiful view of the summit cross on the Schuhflicker. This hut is open and treats you to one of the best Kaiserschmarrn in our region. Via a fantastic trail, the route then descends back to the starting point—the Sonnegg Bridge.
