The Karwendel March is one of the sporting highlights in the Tyrolean event calendar and will take place on August 31, 2024. In addition to the physical challenge, it offers the long-distance hikers and runners among you a unique experience of nature in a pristine landscape - the Karwendel Nature Park.
The Karwendel March has made history and writes new, exciting stories year after year. Created to raise funds for young Tyrolean skiers, the march became the largest sporting event in Tyrol from 1969 to 1990. With the principle of offering participants unique sporting experiences with the greatest possible conservation of resources and raising awareness of the protected area, the Karwendel March was relaunched by Achensee Tourismus and the Olympiaregion Seefeld in 2009. The "new" Karwendel March is rightly regarded as a prime example of how sport, tourism and a protected area can work together not only to organize a top event, but also to convey an understanding of each other's interests.
The Karwendel March covers52 and 35 kilometers respectively. The starting shot is fired in Scharnitz. Characteristic of the high alpine route are the spectacular mountain ranges, which present themselves to hikers and runners in ever-changing formations and perspectives, and the extensive plateaus.
