Above the Pfronten district of Kappel lies the Hündeleskopfhütte at an altitude of 1,180 meters, the first vegetarian mountain hut in the Alps.
At the Hündeleskopfhütte guests are spoiled with regional food from organic farming. Always fresh, classical Allgäuer native dishes are cooked as for example Kässpatzen, Krautkrapfen, Käspressknödeln, different soups or also vegetable roast potatoes. In addition, the hut hosts also offer a daily warm vegan dish and on the snack menu you will also find the popular vegan bread with homemade vegan spreads and crunchy vegetable strips.
In a scarce hour hikers reach the hut over a broad partly tarred forest way. Starting point is the parking lot (Bürgermeister-Franz-Keller-Straße, 87459 Pfronten ) of the forest ropes course in the district of Pfronten-Kappel. From there you first walk a bit along the Steinebach, shortly after the forest ropes course the path then goes up to the left. The tour is also well suited for mountain bikers.
If you want to extend the hike a bit more, you can make a detour to the waterfall of the Höllschlucht beforehand and walk in a large arc over the trail to the Kappeler Alpe and back down a bit to the hut. Once at the top, you have a fantastic view of the mountain panorama of the foothills of the Alps to the Allgäu, Tannheim and Ammergau Alps.
