Details
The Austrian Society for Railway History (ÖGEG) operates Upper Austria's only standard-gauge museum railroad with steam and diesel service between Ampflwang and Timelkam.
The railroad line from Timelkam to Ampflwang was built to develop the coalfields in Hausruck. In the early 1920s, Ampflwang was the most modern coal mining operation in Europe. ÖGEG took over the line and buildings and has been working on an Austrian Railway Museum since 1996, which was opened in 2006 with the Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition.
Free bicycle transport on every train. ÖBB connections are waited for in Timelkam whenever possible.
We are a museum railroad - therefore trains may be cancelled (no obligation to operate).
