To the high mountain chapel in the Zillergrund

Our tour starts in Bärenbad and takes us directly to the "King of the Mountains". In the "Ibex Worlds", we learn more about the exciting history of these fascinating animals and can also observe real ibexes in the enclosure. There is currently a population of around 110 animals in the wild in the Zillertal Alps. We then hike past the Zillergründl reservoir to the picturesque high mountain chapel (2,275 m), which is dedicated to St. Valentine. As a reward for the steep ascent, a magnificent view of the wild, glaciated mountain world of the Reichenspitz group awaits us. After a refreshment stop at the Gasthaus Adlerblick, we take the bus back to Mayrhofen from the Zillergründl reservoir.

Character: difficult hike with approx. 800 m ascent (350 m descent)

Duration: approx. 5.5 hours; of which 4.5 hours pure walking time
