Grawandfels

Get out of the climbing hall - get to the rock!

You climb in the hall and have not yet had the opportunity to start rock climbing? Then this climbing weekend Grawandfels is just right for you: The Grawandhütte and the Zillertal mountain guide Stefan have put together a weekend for you, where you will make your first steps on the rock under professional guidance.

What better place to make your first contact with the rock than the Zemmgrund in the Zillertal? Here, where sports climber Gerhard Hörhager has developed the climbing and bouldering area "Ewige Jagdgründe" together with colleagues, you will find routes for all levels of difficulty.

For the Grawandfels badge, you will meet with mountain guide Stefan at the Naturparkhaus Ginzling on Friday afternoon to get to know each other as a group. He will teach you the most important rules of rock climbing, some material knowledge and the right behavior on the rock. Afterwards you will hike together from the parking lot of Alpengasthof Breitlahner to the Grawandhütte. Here you will move into your base camp - rustic pine wood rooms with wonderful feather beds! During a cozy dinner hosted by Barbara, you will be thoroughly prepared by your mountain guide Stefan for the first rock contact.

The next morning a delicious breakfast and a fortifying snack awaits you for the first day on the rock. You will learn several knots, important rope commands, as well as how to attach a self-belay.

The donning and doffing of your sport climbing seat, roping up with a stretched figure eight, the correct rope supply, performing partner checks and belaying with HMS will be automated on this day.

You will practice independent rappelling with short prusik as well as lead climbing on the rock.

In the evening you will reflect on your experiences over dinner at the Grawandhütte and prepare for the highlight of your weekend:

After breakfast, it's back to the rock. Here, after a short refresher of the previous day, you will show what you have already learned and, if you pass successfully, you will receive your Grawandfels badge. Don't worry: Stefan will support you and show you how to advance in a safe and energy-saving way and will prepare you well for this short test. When this adventure is over, you can fortify yourself again at the Grawandhütte and celebrate your Grawandfels badge before you hike to the parking lot and travel home.

After this weekend you will be equipped to safely master simple climbing passages on the rock and also to quickly climb difficult via ferrata routes.

The climbing course Grawandfels is designed for people over the age of 18 with experience in the climbing hall. The price includes your Zillertal mountain guide Stefan, two nights at the Grawandhütte with half board, two snack packs, the Grawandfels badge and a notebook.

For questions or to register, please contact hut host Barbara Hirner by phone +43 676 6502728 or by e-mail info@grawandhuette.at.

If you arrive by car, you can park at the Alpengasthof Breitlahner for a fee. The course takes place with a minimum of five people.

If there is enough interest, we will offer you further courses in which you can deepen your knowledge of rock climbing and experience first multi-pitch tours in the Zillertal Alps together with mountain guide Stefan.
