Hike through the Gleirschklamm Gorge to the Möselalm

The hike through the Gleirschklamm Gorge to the Möselalm begins at the Scharnitz Nature Park Information Center and initially follows the paved Hinterautalstraße road. The Gleirschklamm Gorge is located at the entrance to the Karwendel Nature Park and impresses with its pristine, almost untouched nature. After about 400 meters, we turn onto the Isarsteig trail in front of a house and follow the signs for “Gleirschklamm via Scharnitzer Alm.”

The Isarsteig is a short forest trail that offers beautiful views of the Isar at regular intervals. At the end of the trail, we follow the signs to the Scharnitzer Alm, which is the perfect spot for a leisurely break. After a quick refreshment break, we continue our hike.

From the Scharnitzer Alm, we follow the Nederweg to the entrance of the Gleirschklamm. A narrow trail leads through the wild and romantic gorge, offering a special nature experience for sure-footed and experienced hikers. The path ends at a forest road, where we turn left and continue to the Gleirschtal forest road. From there, we follow this road into the valley to the right until we reach the Möslalm.

After a well-deserved break and refreshments at the Möslalm, we begin our return journey. First, we follow the Amtssägenweg until we pass the hunting lodge in the Gleirsch Valley. We then rejoin the forest road we were on earlier.

We follow this road until we can descend again to the Gleirschklamm gorge. From here, there are two options: Either we walk through the Gleirschklamm gorge back to the starting point, or we follow the forest road over the so-called Krapfen back to Scharnitz.

If we choose the second option, we follow the signs toward Scharnitz. Along the way, we pass the Krapfen and the Gleirschhöhe, where there is a small cross and an impressive view. The trail continues past the Isarlodge Wiesenhof. From here, we follow the paved road back to the Scharnitz Nature Park Information Center.
