Bormio - Gavia Pass

The Gavia became famous thanks to the scenery of the Giro d'Italia in 1988 under heavy snowfall, enshrining it as the Epic Climb!

The very narrow road discourages the passage of cars and is ideal for cyclists. The Valtellina side can be reached from Bormio where the climb begins, which then becomes harder after S. Caterina Valfurva. Waiting and protecting cyclists at the pass is the statue of the Madonna delle Vette.
