Amrai Suites
Tour description:
Not far from Villa Brox, a short walk into the Gaueser forest, is this very special favorite place of our AMRAI: The sleeping place of the Montafon stone sheep, a traditional Montafon stable, whose outer upper stable wall is equipped with "Henzastäcka". Aha. So this is where they sleep and shower, the stone sheep that AMRAI loves so much. Nowadays, these hay huts are only occasionally found. The hay that was mown in the summer is stored in the upper part of the barn. Mowing the mountain slopes is still tedious: because they are so steep, all mowing equipment fails and you still have to mow with a scythe, just like in the old days. However, the grass is only allowed into the cozy upper room of the barn once it has spent some time on the "Henzastäcka" after mowing and has shaken off all the moisture. A "Henzastäcka" is a small, lightweight wooden frame that is used to hang the freshly mown grass to dry.
Tour length/duration: approx. 30 min
Difficulty: level 2 - steep path to Gauenstein Monastery
Tip: Take binoculars with you; continue from the stable via the Montjola and then via the Bergknappenweg back to Schruns - takes approx. 45 minutes.
