Guided hike to the Rankenkopf

Description

We turn left before Wasenmoos on a forest path and hike to Pass Thurn. From there, a steep alpine path leads up to the highest point of our hike, the 1496 m high Rankenkopf. Once at the top, we enjoy a wonderful view of the impressive backdrop of the Hohe Tauern. After a leisurely break with a snack that we have brought ourselves, we continue through the forest to the high moor. We now hike downhill on a forest road to Wasenmoos. On a beautifully laid out path, the trail leads past irrigation ditches and alder swamp forests to the viewing pavilion and back to the starting point.

Guided hike:

- Meeting point: 09:30 am

at the Panoramabahn mid-station parking lot (Jochberg 31, 5730 Mittersill)

- Pick-up of guests from M+ Wanderbetriebe: 9:00 am

- Return to the parking lot: approx. 1:30 pm

- Walking time: approx. 3 hours

- Moderately difficult hike with approx. 300 m elevation gain and approx. 8 km

- Equipment: ankle-high hiking boots, weatherproof clothing, sun protection, telescopic poles, rucksack with drink and snack
