Vitalhotel Marienhof
Experience an impressive Alpine ride to Austria's highest dam wall - with spectacular panoramas and many sights along the way.
The panoramic tour to the Kölnbrein dam wall takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Carinthia over a distance of around 197 kilometers. Starting from Marienhof, the route initially runs along the idyllic Lake Millstättersee via Millstatt, Seeboden and Gmünd to Fischertratten.
The spectacular section of the tour then begins: the famous Malta High Alpine Road with its numerous bends and tunnel passages leads you through the impressive Malta Valley - also known as the "Valley of Falling Waters" - up to the Kölnbrein Dam, the highest dam in Austria.
On arrival at the top, a breathtaking view of the Kölnbrein Reservoir and the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern awaits you. A special highlight is the "Airwalk" viewing platform, from which you can look directly over the dam wall.
On the way, it is worth stopping at several attractions along the route - including the Landskron Monkey Mountain, the Pfeifhofer Porsche Car Museum, the Maltatal Donkey Park and impressive waterfalls such as the Fallbach Falls or the Melnik Falls.
