The Seceda above Ortisei in Val Gardena is one of the most famous viewpoints in the Dolomites. The view of the towering Geisler Peaks is one of South Tyrol’s most famous photo opportunities and a real highlight for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers.


📍 Starting point:

The starting point is Ortisei in the Val Gardena valley. From the Mountain Lodge Margit, you can reach the Seceda valley station in about 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes by car.

🚠 How to get there:

The most convenient way to reach the top is by taking the Seceda cable car from Ortisei via Furnes to the mountain station.


ℹ️ Good to know:

Summer operating hours 2026 – May 22 through November 2, daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Round trip – approx. €74.00

Popular destination – during peak season, it’s worth getting an early start

Tickets – best to buy online in advance

Parking – parking options in St. Ulrich are limited


🥾 For hikers:

A particularly beautiful and somewhat quieter route leads via Col Raiser, Pieralongia, the Odles Hut, and on to Seceda. This tour combines the famous viewpoint with an impressive hike through the Dolomites.


⛰️ For experienced hikers:

The route via the Mittagsscharte is a challenging mountain hike and is only suitable for sure-footed and physically fit hikers in good weather conditions.


💡 Our tip:

If you want to experience Seceda in a quieter atmosphere, you should set out as early in the morning as possible. That way, you can relax and enjoy the special atmosphere and the view of the Geisler Group.
