Winter hiking in the Schwarzach Valley

This winter hike is a fantastic alternative for all those who want to escape the hustle and bustle and don't want to buy a lift ticket, but still want to enjoy the winter wonderland high up in the mountains. Take a 25-minute drive from the coolnest in the direction of Gerlos and turn right into the small path at Gasthaus Kühle Rast. Simply park near the barrier at the rustic self-service kiosk and set off on the winter hiking trail into the valley to the rustic Schwarzachalm. The trail leads you through an enchanted mountain landscape along the river. It takes you a leisurely 1 hour to cover the 2 kilometers and slight 209-meter ascent and you can walk back to the starting point in just under half an hour to three quarters of an hour. The Schwarzachalm is open daily from 10.00 - 16.00 until Easter Monday. We definitely recommend that you stop off at the friendly innkeepers Doris and Stefan and treat yourself to a Kaiserschmarrn or a sausage sandwich. If there is enough snow, you can hire sledges at the hut and toboggan back down. If you have children with you, you can of course pull them up to the hut on your own toboggan.
