Winter hiking on the Ahorn

Winter hiking is a great alternative to experience the winter wonderland. For this hike, take the Ahorn gondola from Mayrhofen to the mountain station (pedestrian ticket 28 euros plus 2 euros deposit). From here, follow the blue signs (start to the left) and enjoy the fantastic view. The hike takes approx. 1 hour and ends at the valley station of the 8-seater chairlift. The ascent with the lift is included in the ticket. Once you arrive at the White Lounge Igloo Bar, treat yourself to a hot chocolate (with or without rum) before walking back to the gondola.

VARIANT: Ascent to the Filzenkopf

If this hike is too easy for you, you should plan a detour to the Filzenkopf or Filzenkogel. Behind the Whitelounge, take the drag lift uphill to the summit cross of the small Kogel, which is located in front of the imposing Ahornspitz. In good weather, you have a fabulous view of the entire Zillertal and the Ahornspitze from the top. You should allow about 1 hour for the extra hike.

COOL TIP: Don't forget warm clothing, gloves, hat, scarf and sunglasses. You can borrow our poles and crampons for your boots at reception.
