Winter hiking on the Ahorn

Winter hiking is a wonderful way to experience the snow-covered mountain world away from the pistes. For this enjoyable hike, the Ahorn gondola takes you from Mayrhofen up to the mountain station. Impressive views of the wintry Zillertal open up during the ride.

On arrival at the top, follow the blue signposts (start to the left) and let yourself be enchanted by the tranquil winter landscape. The well-maintained trail takes you through a dreamlike setting to the valley station of the 8-seater chairlift in around an hour.

On arrival at the White Lounge Iglubar, a cozy break with a hot chocolate - with or without rum - invites you to warm up and linger before you take a relaxed stroll back to the gondola.

Variant: Ascent to the Filzenkopf / Filzenkogel

If you want to go a little higher, you can extend the hike with a detour to the Filzenkopf (Filzenkogel). Behind the White Lounge, the trail leads uphill by the drag lift to the summit cross of the small Kogel, which rises impressively in front of the Ahornspitze.

In good weather, a fabulous panoramic view of the entire Zillertal and the surrounding mountains awaits you at the top. You should allow about another hour for this additional ascent.

COOL TIP: Don't forget warm clothing, gloves, hat, scarf and sunglasses. You are welcome to borrow our poles and crampons for your boots at reception.
