The Dr. Heinrich-Hackel-Hütte is located in a beautiful panoramic position at 1,531 m on the southern slope of the Tennengebirge in Salzburg. In good weather you can see far into the Salzach valley, to the Hochkönig and sometimes even to the Großglockner.

Route description:
From the parking lot in Wengerau, follow the signs to the hut on trail no. 51. At first, the ascent is only moderate on a wide path and across meadows. Only later, when you reach the forest and enter it, the path becomes a bit steeper and leads up to about 1,400 m.
Here a beautiful hiking trail branches off from the wide path that has been followed so far and leads along the left edge of the alpine pastures up to the Dr. Heinrich Hackel Hut at 1,531 m.
