Außerlitzstraße 80, Schruns
The Montafon Local History Museum in Schruns is the largest museum in the valley and is one of the oldest of its kind in the entire Alpine region. Founded back in 1906, the Montafon Local History Museum has been housed in the 500-year-old stone building on the church square in the main town of the Montafon since 1978, housing cultural artefacts from the entire valley and providing information about the traditional way of life of the Montafon people. The Montafon Archive, which is also housed here, and a specialist library are accessible for study purposes by appointment.
Under the motto "Valley history meets valley future", current topics are also dealt with, researched and exhibited on an ongoing basis. Since 2023, the Montafon Museum of Local History has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel as a "Green Museum".
