Via Milano, 50, Bormio
If the Stelvio is the King, Cancano is definitely the Princess. The road was part of the Via Imperiale d'Alemagna traveled in the Middle Ages by caravans bringing wine in exchange for salt to central Europe. It was later adapted for the construction of the Cancano dams.
It is a climb completely exposed to the sun, surrounded by mountain pines whose scent is a panacea to forget fatigue. Once you reach the Fraele Towers, the view of the hairpin bends is truly impressive.
